In the past, the port was primarily used for handling grain and fertilizers. Today, marinas with sailing and motor yachts dominate the picture. A wooden bascule bridge, which can be opened for passing ships if necessary, connects Eckernförde with the northern district of Borby. At the same time, it divides the port into the inner harbor and the outer harbor.
The larger outer harbor and its outer harbor are protected by two piers.

The harbor promenade invites you to stroll and stop for a break. A very nice view of the fjord guaranteed. There are a number of restaurants to stop off at.
