The historic mill:
The history of the Allenbacher Mühle can be traced back to 1450. It was part of the copper smelter and was used to manufacture grain products and oil. Back then, the oil and grinding mill was simply called the "Upper Mill". In 1850, the Ries brothers bought the dilapidated mill and rebuilt the upper part of the mill. The mill was restored between 1988 and 1994 with the support of the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments, the Herrstein Community, the Allenbach Community and the Birkenfeld District Savings Bank.
