The Hoxeler Viaduct is 160m long and rises 42m above the Herchenbach valley floor. Since the route was used for military purposes in World War II, the bridge was bombed in 1944 and was impassable for several years. Numerous bomb craters in the valley, which have since become small biotopes, still bear witness to the bombing.
