The Max-Wenk-Staircase, connecting staircase between the Zwinger and the city center made of natural stone, was donated by the Mannheim industrialist Adolf Wenk-Wolff, son of the Offenburg businessman Max Wenk. The architect Friedrich Abel made the design. The staircase was opened on June 28, 1908, the same day that the Isenmann monument was inaugurated.
