From a distance the Seierturm looks like a church - wrong, it is about 250m further. The Seier Tower (actually: Seigerturm, i.e. clock tower) was mentioned for the first time in 1499. It served as a place of execution in the Middle Ages. Until 1890 there were neck irons between the round arches to tie up the prisoners. A replica of the neck irons was added when the arches were reopened in 2006.

Gravel riding
Small historical tower in Zottelstedt and an interesting stopover on the bike tour. A beautiful piece of local history that can be discovered with a short stop. 🏰🚴
