In 2003 the internationally renowned Mexican artist Helen Escobedo realized a project for the Nieheimer Kunstpfad. Her installation “Music in the Air” in the historic Holzhausen Eichenallee consisted of 101 silhouettes of musical instruments that she installed in the old oaks of the avenue. The instruments made of sheet metal seemed to grow out of the trunks in a harmonious symbiosis with the trees. One of the hallmarks of Escobedo's work is the use of ephemeral materials, often found on site. “Music in the Air” was designed as a temporary installation, because the weather and storm damage hit the installation in the following years. The arrangement left a long resonance with the visitors, music was - in a figurative sense - in the air. And so Ecobedo decided to give the installation an encore. While she was still alive, the artist, who died in 2010, rearranged the ensemble from the around 50 remaining instruments to form an orchestra, which today puts the visitor in the mood for the art trail at the beginning of Eichenallee under the title "Encore", encore. At the same time, the project builds a substantive bridge to the international voice festival VOICES, which takes place every summer at the neighboring KulturGut Holzhausen.
