St. Gertrudis is a Catholic church in Horstmar in the Steinfurt / North Rhine-Westphalia district, named after Gertrud von Nivelles. On November 25, 1325 the collegiate monastery was established in Horstmar at the already existing parish church of St. Gertrud. The pastor was appointed dean. The collation, i.e. H. the canonicals were assigned by the responsible bishop of Münster.

Prince-Bishop Gerhard had expanded and fortified the settlement below the castle around 1270 and privileged Horstmar with town charter. His successors then tried to improve pastoral care and the education of the population. The divine service arrangements for the castle and Marienkapelle by Prince-Bishop Otto III. 1306 Consideration for the establishment of a canonical and he determined the castle chaplain to the future scholaster (schoolmaster). The Chapter Foundation then carried out Prince-Bishop Ludwig II on St. Katharina, November 25th, 1325 and elevated the St. Gertrudis parish church to a collegiate church.
