Craig Cwm Silyn Summit

Craig Cwm Silyn Summit

Recommended by 14 hikers

The northeastern end of the wonderful Nantlle Ridge is characterised by a sinuous switchback ridge and airy summits. Things start to broaden out a bit once you reach the summit of Craig Cwm Silyn, the high point of the whole ridge at 2,408 feet (734 m). It’s a characterful peak whose craggy northern face, popular with climbers, rises up impressively above the Nantlle Valley.

An interesting cairned summit on the way across the Nantlle Ridge. On a sky blue day you couldn't go wrong with the views.

The highest peak on the Nantlle Ridge, Craig Cwm Silyn is an excellent viewpoint for northern Snowdonia. The ascent of its rocky, northeast facing spur is an entertaining clamber, while to the west things broaden out towards Garnedd-goch. The mountain's north face, well seen from the village of Nantlle, is steep, rocky and popular with climbers.
