The ruin dates from the 12th century and was destroyed during the Thirty Years War. The remains are still standing today, and from above you have a beautiful view of the distance.

The Hunolstein ruins were once a hilltop castle at 395 meters above sea level: It was the seat of the former bailiffs of Hunolstein and the legend goes that this was also the seat of Hunold from the Nibelungen saga.
It was so badly damaged in the Thirty Years War that it was no longer worth rebuilding.

    Hiking

Ruins of a castle from the 12th century. Not much is left of it, but there is a shelter with seating and a fantastic view over the Dhrontal when you climb the stairs to the rock cone.
