The former Günter Ruhr impregnation plant in the forest near Buir in Nettersheim (Euskirchen district) operated until 1997. Before that, it was taken over in 1994. The last testimonies to a formerly flourishing business are the old pressure impregnation tanks. RTL made the factory known nationwide in 2009 when parts of the film “The Volcano” were filmed at this location.
