This chapel in the Gilsdorf district of Bad Münstereifel is dedicated to Saint Joseph, the nursing father of Jesus Christ. Like Zacharias, the father of John the Baptist, he is a man on the threshold from the Old to the New Testament. Joseph was from the house of David, one of the twelve tribes of Israel. He was a carpenter by trade and the fiancé of the Blessed Mother Mary.
The feast day of Saint Joseph in the saints calendar is on March 19th, and on May 1st the church celebrates the feast of "Joseph the Worker".

The chapel has been under the patronage of Saint Joseph since 1888; previously it was dedicated to St. Anthony.
A document in the parish archive states 1758 as the year of origin; However, the architectural findings indicate that it was built in the 17th century. Source: bad-muenstereifel.de/leben-in-bad-muenstereifel/stadtportrait/ortsteile/gilsdorf
