Like almost all Saxon castles and manors, Struppen Castle was subject to frequent changes of ownership. In 1420 Heinrich von Reichenbach and Friedrich von Rottwerndorf are enfeoffed with the property. From 1473 the owner changed several times until Walter von Bernstein was enfeoffed in 1541. The relief on the front of the castle, which shows a bear, may come from this period. Later Johann Adolf von Rayski owned the castle.
