The old airfield was built in 1960. The strip was 800 meters long and 25 meters wide. In 2009 the old airport was demolished again. After demolition, the original landscape will be restored. The 'New nature' quickly recovers. Rare plants and animals develop here in the rendered nature. Fauna and flora are allowed to grow and flourish here in peace.

In this vast 170-hectare nature reserve on the edge of the municipality of Beerse, you can admire water birds, deer and other animals from three different viewing huts. In addition, there are also (other) winged friends such as hawk, black woodpecker and the pied fathead (butterfly) present in the area.
In addition to a large amount of pines, you will also find oak-birch forests, fens, barren grasslands and wet and dry heath.
