Like the other two weirs on the New Danube, weir 1 serves to regulate the water level of the New Danube. It consists of five weir fields with a clear width of 25 meters. It is a rigid system, which means that, in contrast to the weir systems in power plants, it is normally not moved. The weir locks are hydraulically operated pressure segments with a fixed spill hood.
