The Josefsteg has a length of 135 meters and is located on the so-called table water not far from the Drechlinglacke and allows the crossing of a until recently dry old arm of the original Danube.

29.06.2017 - Beautiful observation deck and bridge. Very good for nature and wildlife observation - e.g. the European pond turtles, really rare animal. The habitat of this turtle is really threatened and is getting smaller. Josefsteg was built by the army in 2001.

May 28, 2019: Josefsteg is currently blocked. According to MA 29 general renovation / new construction in the cold period 2019/2020.

Temporary, alternative crossing options in the vicinity of the footbridge are planned. However, the implementation will take some time.

I love Lobau National Park, I have had the privilege of visiting it in different months and it is always a delight. Thanks to komoot I have also found out that the wooden bridge is called Josefsteg.
