The Vlattenhaus Moated Castle, also known historically as Großes Haus or Schenkenhaus, is a distinctive castle-like building nestled in Eynatten, a charming district within the Belgian municipality of Raeren. Standing at an elevation of 317 meters, this historic *Wasserburg* or moated castle offers a fascinating glimpse into the region's past. This mansion and farm are named after the von Vlatten family, who lived there until 1733. Shortly before the Americans invaded in September 1944, two bombs destroyed the newly restored Vlattenhaus. In the 1990s, the ruins were rebuilt by an Aachen architect and successfully supplemented with modern elements.

Vlattenhaus is one of three castles in the Eynatten area. To the northeast is the Amstenrath house and a good 200m in Berlott is Raaf Castle.
Vlattenhaus was in the 15th century. expanded while there was probably an estate here before. A von Eynatten family was probably the founder of the castle and a Vlatten family later took it over until the 18th century.

Moated castle in the municipality of Eynatten. The origins probably lie in the 15th century. It was a ruin until a family bought it and rebuilt it with modern approaches, saving it from further decay. The harmonious coexistence of the modern elements with the old walls is worth seeing.
