The container terminal has a size of 170,000 m². Containers up to 45 tons can be lifted / handled here. This is done with three mobile crane bridges and 15 container forklifts. Around 400,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit - in German: twenty-foot standard container) are handled here every year.

Most of the containers visible here in the harbor are 2 TEU or 1 FEU (Forty-foot Equivalent Unit) in size, with TEU containers being slightly smaller than 20 feet, as two of them must fit exactly onto an FEU container with a small gap of 3 inches. The total weight of an FEU may not exceed 30.48 tons, and a TEU 20.32 tons. This results in the certainly applied load capacity of 45 tons for the portal bridges.
