Memorial to those who fell in World War 1 and 2 in Park Alt-Lietzow.
November 23, 2020
The "Honorary Monument" in the center of the semicircular square on the western edge of the Alt-Lietzow village green is the memorial to the fallen in the Prussian wars of 1864, 1866 and 1870/71, which was created in 1873-75 by Hubert Stier (base) and Albert Wolff (animal figure). A proudly looking lion on a sarcophagus-like pedestal with sandstone columns and stairs is intended to commemorate the Prussian wars with Denmark in 1864, Austria in 1866 and France in 1870/71. Later, plaques were added to commemorate the fallen in the two world wars. Of the original four bronze plaques, one remains with the inscription: "To the warriors of this city who fell in the glorious battles for king and fatherland in 1864, 66 and 71. The citizens of Charlottenburg 1875." Source: berlin.de/ba-charlottenburg-wilmersdorf/ueber-den-bezirk/geschichte/gedenkstaetten/artikel.162597.php
