The forest park goes back to the commitment of the sparkling wine manufacturer Ludwig Pilgrim, at the time the owner of the Mohrenhaus property of the park-like Pilgrimswäldchen named after him. After 1850, land was acquired by various institutions in order to enlarge and protect the area of the forest park. This was combined with the creation of paths, benches and other facilities to beautify the visitor's stay.
