Only 5 km from Jüterbog is the village church of Werder, an imposing three-part fieldstone building with a west transom, nave and a straight closed rectangular chancel. It was built at the end of the 12th century as a typical Fleming complex with a nave, choir and apse. In a second construction phase, the tower was added, among other things. A little later the apse was demolished and the chancel was extended, which was closed flat and received three Gothic east windows. In the 15th century the bell tower was added to the tower. The bronze bell was made in the second half of the 13th century. It bears the inscription REX GLORIA XPE VENI CUM PACE(M).

The medieval rafter roof of the church has been well preserved. Its interior, with its flat beamed ceiling, contains valuable works of art: a fragment of late Gothic grisaille stained glass in the central choir window with a depiction of Christ, the altar with a fieldstone substructure from the Middle Ages and a wooden cover plate, and the goblet-shaped baptismal font from the 13th century made of sandstone with a foot made of bog iron . There is also a 13th or 14th century oak dugout chest with original ironwork in the form of bands and wavy tendrils.
