At the end of the Berkemei against the Zoerselbos is a respectable oak. A tree chapel has hung here since time immemorial, as one often finds at intersections of important roads. The road from Zandhoven to Brecht crossed here with one of the two roads from Halle to Zoersel. The chapel had disappeared in the late 1970s. The then young Friends of the Zoerselbos association decided to provide a new chapel.

At the end of the Berkemei near the Zoerselbos there is a respectable oak tree. A tree chapel has hung here since time immemorial, such as is often found at intersections of important roads. The road from Zandhoven to Brecht crossed here with one of the two roads from Halle to Zoersel.

The chapel disappeared in the late 1970s. The then young association 'Friends of the Boshuisje and the Zoerselbos' decided to provide two new chapels: one at the Boshuisje at the traditional entrance to the Zoerselbos and one at the end of the Berkemei. Artist Marc de Roover designed and realized both chapels. That of the Berkemei was painted in green and red, but unfortunately it fell victim to vandalism in the 1990s. Fortunately, a plan of the original design still existed. Herman De Coninck of the 'Friends' expertly restored it and since 2013 it has stood guard at one of the entrances to the Zoerselbos.
