Rhine-Elbe Watershed

Here in the west of the district of Hof on the border with the neighboring district of Kronach in the Franconian Forest, Steinbach is located near Geroldsgrün. The watershed between the Rhine and Elbe runs on the eastern hill. The Ölsnitz flows through the Ölsnitztal with striking rock formations in the direction of Rodach.

The municipality of Geroldsgrün belongs to the Franconian Forest, a wooded low mountain range on the watershed between the Rhine and the Elbe. It is located in the west of the district of Hof on the border with the neighboring district of Kronach and in the north close to the state of Thuringia.The main town Geroldsgrün as well as Langenbach and Steinbach lie in gentle valleys, surrounded by extensive mountain ranges. Dürrenwaid and the place Silberstein, created on a cleared area, are located on or in the narrow valley of the Ölsnitz with striking rock formations and steep mountain slopes.
