The "Ems" used as an auxiliary measuring ship, auxiliary buoy layer and tour ship was built in 1934 at the Meyer shipyard in Papenburg. It is 36 meters long and 5.75 wide. Today it is considered to be the oldest seagoing ship built by Meyer Werft that is still in service. Hull number 396
