The lightship gives a good insight into the work and life on it when it was still in use. In this way, the visitor learns something about navigation marks, can visit the crew quarters and view construction plans and ship models. The engine in the engine room can also be viewed. In addition, you will be informed about the Ostfriesische Seemannsmission in Emden and the society for the rescue of shipwrecked people. There is also a restaurant and a wedding room for weddings on board.
The ship was built between 1914 and 1915 by Meyer Werft in Papenburg and was sometimes used with twelve crew members. During the entire 65-year mission, it was stationed at different locations at sea. His last assignment was in the German Bight until 1969.

      The Amrumbank in Emden's Ratsdelft
The Amrumbank lightship was built in 1915 at the Jos. L. Meyer shipyard in Papenburg
and has been in service as a floating lighthouse at several locations in the North Sea since 1917.

The inscription "German Bight" on both sides of the ship indicates its last berth as an active lightship.

Twelve crew members served on board in fortnightly rotation.

After its decommissioning on October 19, it was purchased, renovated, and partially rebuilt by the "Museum Lightship Working Group, Emden."

Since August 2, 1984, the Amrumbank has been moored in Emden's Ratsdelft—right in the city center—and is open to the public.
      The exact position is:

      53° 31' 58' North, 7° 12' 23' East

Anyone who has never been to Emden and is spending their first time there cannot avoid this restaurant. It is located right in the center and is also one of Emden's landmarks
