The hall church was built after 1430 and vaulted after 1450. Around 1500 the church received the brick gable. In 1793 the tower dome was renewed. In 1887 a restoration was carried out by Gotthilf Ludwig Möckel, who lost valuable pieces of equipment. In 1908, the galleries were converted by Woldemar Kandler. In 1992, renewed restoration work began (Wikipedia).

Great church, it's open and that's very rare in Germany. You can also climb the tower, it's all free. A donation is always appropriate, for what you get offered also a matter of course.

The main church of St. Marien in Kamenz, a hall church, was built in 1430, in 1450 it received a vault and around 1500 the brick gable. Restorations took place in 1887, 1908 and most recently in 1992. It is thankfully one of the few churches open to visitors.

The four-aisled St. Mary's Church is one of the most important late Gothic hall churches in Saxony. Construction began around 1400 and was completed around 1480. It boasts rich furnishings of high artistic quality, including the St. Mary's Altar (1519), St. Michael's Altar (1498), and the pulpit (1564) by the Kamenz painter Andreas Dreßler.
