The natural and romantic Weitmannsee, with its many small islands, west of Kissing near the Lech River, was the first project undertaken by the Augsburg Recreation Area Association. Significant investments were made to make the lake accessible to visitors as a local recreation area, and the effort has paid off: Due to its special charm as a natural lake, Weitmannsee has become a tourist magnet and is very popular with cyclists, swimmers, and those seeking relaxation.
