After the end of the Franco-Prussian War, the population of Klein Köris, as in other places, wanted to plant a pond of peace. Since they could not agree on the location, a group planted a tree at a place at the school and another group planted another tree in front of the spray house. The oak at the school has been declared the "official" peace oak. The second tree, however, grew stronger, until he had to be cut down in the 1990s for reasons of age. The sawmill artists Thomas Hartmann, Gilbert Biek, Lorenz Tacke, Edgar Krieg and Christian Wehner created the dragon tree from the wood, reminiscent of the 2003 Dragon Boat Race.

After the Franco-Prussian War (1870-71) the community suggested planting a peace oak. However, those present could not agree on a location. Finally, a tree was planted in the square in front of the school and another tree in front of the syringe house.

In 2002 the peace oak had to be felled. The stump was transformed into a dragon tree by chainsaw artists Thomas Hartmann, Gilbert Biek, Lorenz Tacke, Edgar Krieg and Christian Wehner, reminiscent of the dragon boat races that have been taking place since 2003.

The peace oak in Klein Köris has died. Artists create the dragon tree from the trunk. A beautiful landmark.
