Whilst small, hikes up Rannderdale Knotts whisk you above Crummock Water and Buttermere village for wonderful views. This fell stands proud and steep on all sides but for its south …

Rannerdale Knotts is a 1,165-foot (355 m) Wainwright fell in the Lake District close to the eastern edge of Crummock Water. My favourite time to hike Rannerdale Knotts is in the Spring when the bluebells are out, but at any time of year the view to Crummock Water and Buttermere from here is outstanding. This is definitely one of my favourite parts of the Lake District.

Great view of Buttermere and Crummock Water.

Quite a low hill at 355m but it is deceptive as the climb up to it from the road below is steep. A beautiful valley hill surrounded by giants but it stands out from the crowd with its lumpy dragons back and world class views.
