Canada Cliffs and Beech Cliffs Trail Junction

At the junction hikers can look down upon Echo Lake Beach, and east to Acadia and Saint Sauveur Mountains. The Canada Cliffs Trail is a moderate, mostly forested loop, while the Beech Cliffs trail is a strenuous steep climb from Echo Lake Beach.

I'm not sure how it's got it's name but maybe you can see Canada from here. You can certainly see some lovely views of Echo Pond, Acadia Mountain, and the Cranberry Isles in the distance

From the parking lot at Echo Lake, the Beech Cliffs Trail climbs steeply up to the summit of Beech Mountain. The trail goes over hill and dale and leads along rock steps along mighty granite rocks. Several iron ladders help you overcome the huge granite blocks on the way up and down. On the way you can see Echo Lake with its beach and the heights of Mount Desert Island.
We hike in early June, climb up to the summit and do a circular hike that takes us on the Canada Cliffs Trail, the Valley Trail and the Beech Mountain Trail with a wonderful view of Long Pond.
