For those interested!
Had not visited the Sophienhöhe for a while, in the nice weather today I went over it again and around the mine.

Conclusion, a visit to the "Höhe" and the viewpoints is definitely worth it. Stone compass, weather station and Roman tower are always worth a detour along with some other accessible points. Overall, the "Sophie" for me is not a multiple destination at shorter intervals, I just prefer the natural forest and the Eifel personally.
All in all, the paths are easy to drive and the climbs can also be mastered by ambitious cyclists. Signs of the paths are almost completely missing in my eyes, but would definitely make sense for me.
I think it's a shame that various paths are simply blocked without notice, often after several hundred meters, and only the way back to the previous intersection remains.
There is also a lookout point around the opencast mine, from which a view of the huge hole in the ground can be risked.
The distant view, in good weather, from the Römerturm is great, nicely done I find the information on the direction boards. My recommendation, just go there .........
