A location to take your thoughts back in time. We recall the chilly October days of 1914. On October 8, 1914, there was a small battle at this location. In a confrontation of barely an hour between German and Belgian soldiers, 13 young soldiers lost their lives. About 50 Belgian soldiers crossed the Durme at this location, which was not without risk. 5 or 6 soldiers drowned in this flight. Still, consider how important freedom can be and what it is worth to defend.
