The yearling shaft is located on the southeast side of the Scheuereckberg at an altitude of around 1150 meters. This island in the sea of forests, which currently has a size of almost four hectares, was first mentioned in 1622. The higher you go up the yearling shafts, the better the view of the Czech Šumava National Park on the other side of the border. Hikers can have a leisurely snack at the Hüterhütte at the top of the shaft, which was rebuilt in 1974. Right next to it is the small summit formation of the Scheuereckberg including a summit cross.
