Castle Metternich is a formerly two-part moated castle, whose two-storey mansion in the basement still has building fabric of the 13th century. The brick building dates back to the 14th century; in the 15th century, the tower was added.
Castle Metternich, kurkölnisches fief, was first mentioned in an inheritance division in 1348 documentary and remained until 1692 in the possession of the family Metternich.
In 1895, Edmund Freiherr Spies von Büllesheim bought the castle, whose family she still owns today and manages the associated estate.
