The first museum in honor of Otto von Bismarck was set up in 1891 in Schönhauser Schloss II, today's community center, while he was still alive and could be visited there until 1948. Its main stock consisted of the numerous gifts that Bismarck received in the last years of his life.

The exhibition was expanded in 2000 to include the largest publicly owned collection of medals embossed on the first German Chancellor. Both collections convey an impression of the contemporary cult surrounding the statesman revered as the “founder of the Reich” and are suitable starting points for asking questions about German and European history.
