It was given the name fever chapel because of the often miraculous healings that took place, allegedly by the Mother of God herself. The flooding of the Rhine had repeatedly caused severe fever with occasional deaths among the residents. The fever chapel, which is otherwise closed, is open over Easter. The 400 to 500 year old sanctuary invites you to visit the "Festival of Hope".
