The Anton-Schmid-Promenade is a left bank cycle path on the inner Danube Canal in the direction of the river. In the upper area of the Splittauer Landle, the promenade is reserved for pedestrians, the bike path then runs above the road

    Wiki writes about the namesake:

Anton-Schmid-Promenade (path on the left bank of the Danube Canal), named ..... after the resistance fighter and army member Anton Schmid (* January 9, 1900, † April 13, 1942. He ran a radio shop in Vienna, in 1938 he joined the Wehrmacht Anton Schmid employed and protected around 100 Jews, brought around 300 to safety and helped establish the Jewish resistance movement in occupied Poland; he was arrested and shot in 1942. The Anton-Schmid-Hof at 20, Pappenheimgasse 31 was also named after him .(Source: geschichtewiki.wien.gv.at/Anton-Schmid-Promenade)

It's nice to cruise alongside the canal in any weather.

Beautiful cycle path along the Danube Canal, sometimes dangerous as this path is used as a racing bike route.
