"...In my opinion, the most beautiful street in Kempen is Alte Schulstrasse. Small, pretty half-timbered houses are lined up here. They were built in 1609 and were probably home to craftsmen back then..."

The row of half-timbered houses was built in one go in 1609 - probably by Johann von Broichhausen. His coat of arms and that of his wife Gertrud von Overheid are still partially visible on house number 7.
In addition to the name "Alte Schulstrasse", another street name was also used at times. We find this on house number 13: "These houses are in God's hands - they are called Bruckersche Straße."
The door inscription at No. 18 indicates that this row of houses was primarily inhabited by craftsmen: "Here are awls and strips; the leather costs the most."
