In the 19th century, the school became a grammar school, and since 1936, it has been possible to take the Matura exams. Girls have also been accepted since the mid-1970s. Today, around 160 pupils are taught at the grammar school and boarding school at Kloster Disentis. Around a third of them live in the boarding school.
