The Belesar reservoir is a swamp created in 1963 on the Miño River. It is located between the municipalities of Taboada, Chantada, Saviñao, Paradela, Páramo, Guntin and Portomarín. The construction of the reservoir meant, in addition to flooding almost 5,000 hectares of land, the disappearance under the waters of the town of Portomarín, which was rebuilt near its former location.
