Once in the valley, the Igrexa de San Xoán de Portomarín church was dismantled stone by stone in the 1960s and rebuilt at its present location. Reason: The valley was flooded, and is now filled by a water reservoir. But this is not the only thing that makes the structure so special: built in the late Romanesque style, it was designed both as a castle and as a church and therefore has architectural features of both styles.

If you are on the Camino and stop in Portomarin, visit the church. Here you will find peace and quiet before the crowds of people on the last 100 km before Santiago.

Here it is worth going in. The church is simple but still beautiful.
A stamp can also be obtained here.

A beautiful church that should be visited once! It was once completely dismantled and rebuilt at this point! You can even see the numbers on the stones.
