200 feet (60 m) high and taking the full brunt of westerly weather in north west Scotland, the Old Man of Stoer is a truly incredible sea stack. Made from Torridonian sandstone, the stack stands across The Minch from the Isle of Lewis and is popular with rock climbers. It's also popular with a large variety of bird life including razorbills, northern fulmars, great skuas and guillemots.

This pillar in the sea is a terrific beautiful sight. It can actually also be climbed (VS 5a), though you need to commit to do the first length swimming (at least for one in the team to set up the tyrolean).

Best in the evening, then the light is optimal for taking pictures.
