    Cycling

This section is off the official North Coast 500 route as the roads are too small to accommodate caravans and motorhomes, but is absolutely stunning for cycling, so make the most of these tiny C roads. This is an absolute highlight of the west coast that you'll miss if you stay on the driver's route.

    Road cycling

    - recommended detour to main NC500 route
    - Lochinver has good shops and a great pie restaurant / shop
    - road passes Stac Pollaidh and Suilven, amongst others
    - you can continue north to Drumbeg and then rejoin the main NC500 route just south of Kylesku and Unapool

One of the real highlights of the NC500. Worth the detour and the extra climbing. Some sections get up over 20%, which is worth knowing if you've a fully loaded bike.
