The Villa Andreae was built in 1891. The house has 29 rooms and 1520 square meters of living and usable space. A park with an area of 20,000 m² stretched around the house.
During the Second World War, a military hospital was set up there from 1942. From 1946 the Protestant Association for Inner Mission was first the leaseholder and then the owner of the building. From 1946 to 1987, Villa Andreae housed a student residence of the association.
In 2009, the villa served as an outdoor backdrop for the youth film Hanni & Nanni.

In 1987 the real estate entrepreneur Jürgen Schneider bought the monument for 5 million DM and had it extensively renovated for 30 million DM. He used it from 1989 until his sensational bankruptcy of billions in 1994 as the representative headquarters of his real estate group.
