The Laurentiuskirche was built in the 12th century. first mentioned as a Gothic fortified church. This is still visible on the defiant three-storey tower and the partially preserved curtain wall. Structural changes probably took place in the 18th century, as the baroque nave shows. A real treasure is the baroque baptismal font from the 18th century. In the middle of the sanctuary. The altar room itself is dominated by the Baroque pulpit altar dating from 1727, which is typical of the Margravian churches. The organ in the style of the Neuromantik originates from the Bayreither organ builder Ludwig Weineck and is from 1856.

A very nice ensemble with rectory, cemetery and remaining fortification walls.

The church was first mentioned in a document in 1108. The location on the hill, the storage cellar and the hexagonal, one and a half meter thick enclosing wall, some of which have survived to this day, indicate that the residents used it as a place of retreat in the event of war, as a so-called fortified church.
On the west side of the church are three large sandstone monuments. The third from the left belongs to the grave of Friedrich Christian Philipp Gromann, referred to in sources as "Amtmann von Sanspareil". He fell victim to the serial killer Anna Margaretha Zwanziger, who worked for him as a housekeeper. For years she was up to mischief in Kasendorf and Sanspareil. Disguised as a maid, she poisoned anyone who crossed her path. It wasn't until she was over 50 that people found out about her. She was convicted by the conscientious autopsy report of the then Kulmbacher Stadtphysicus, who found arsenic poisoning in some of the victims.
The church was named after Saint Laurentius, a Roman deacon who, according to legend, was martyred and executed on the grill. To date, the church has been Catholic. Then came the time of Martin Luther, who initiated the Reformation with his 95 theses. On August 10, 1530, the Wonsee church of St. Laurentius became Protestant. Although it was burned down several times during the Thirty Years' War, the church escaped this fate.
