If you should travel by bicycle, please note that bicycles are not only impractical but also prohibited within the center of Venice. For cost reasons, I recommend moving into accommodation in one of the suburbs and then taking the public bus, which runs regularly and is inexpensive and easy to find. In any case, it is worth spending at least a day in the city.
