The Cultural Church is one of Luckau's architectural features. In the Middle Ages, a Dominican monastery was located on this site, which was dissolved during the Reformation. From 1747 onwards, the remains of the monastery were used as a penitentiary and poorhouse. This was the beginning of Luckau's history as a prison site, which ended with the relocation of the Luckau JVA to Duben in 2005. The Niederlausitz Museum Luckau has been located in the Cultural Church since 2008. The building also houses the tourist information office, the town library and an event hall.
