Max Buchhauser was a gardener and amateur sculptor in Regensburg and the owner of a gardening business. A large part of his gardens, including the greenhouses, had to give way to the construction of the Upper Palatinate Bridge. What remained was a field about the size of a football field, sandwiched between the European Canal and Frankenstrasse. This garden is known for its grotesque sculptures, up to three meters high and sometimes just as wide, along its north and south sides, which are visible from the street and the bridge, but also from the canal.
This free sculpture garden is impressive in its monumentality and for its bizarre and whimsical character. It has therefore become one of Regensburg's smaller landmarks. The sculptures are a deliberately chaotic mix of the styles of several eras. From the Egyptians to the Greeks, the Romans, Nazi art to naive sculpture: all styles and cultural eras are represented. When combined, they achieve an unexpected complexity.

The Max Buchhauser Garden is located in Regensburg on the north side of the Danube on the B 8 and, with its sculptures, is a city attraction.
