Regensburg's most important landmark. The bridge crosses both branches of the Danube over a length of approximately 300 meters and was, for centuries, the only fortified crossing before Vienna. On the south side is the Salzstadel (salt storage) with a museum and what is arguably the oldest sausage kuchl in the world. On the north side lies Stadtamhof, formerly an independent town that belonged to Bavaria.
