The seven virgins are rock formations that formed three to five million years ago during the development of the Saar loop. According to legend, the Saar gave birth to one girl every year, seven in all. She loved her daughters and bequeathed each of them a treasure. But envy and resentment sparked a quarrel. Angered at her daughters, the Saar threw them against the rocks. The daughters froze into maidens of stone.
