Botnang was an expansion settlement on the Feuerbach district and was first mentioned as Botenach in 1075.
It passed from the ownership of the Counts of Calw to the Hirsau Monastery and belonged to the Bebenhausen Monastery in the late Middle Ages from 1281.
The Lords of Frauenberg and their heirs had bailiwick rights from around 1251.
Parts of the town became part of Württemberg in 1391 and 1481.
In 1356 a distinction was made between Oberbotnang and Unterbotnang.
Ecclesiastically, Botnang was separated from Feuerbach in 1483.
From around 1630 to 1922 Botnang was an independent municipality.
